Global digital services and solutions provider Coforge has announced a new system for the logistics sector. Quasar e-BOL uses the company’s document processing engine that will address the universal need in the freight movement industry. Coforge claims that Quasar e-BOL is a cost-effective solution to digitise Bills of Lading (BOL). Here are all the details about the new digital solution for the logistics industry.

Quasar eBOL is developed using open-source technology and is architected as an open API solution for deployment flexibility. This system works in both online (cloud) and offline (edge) scenarios.

According to an estimate by industry analysts and the Digital LTL Council, 85% of all freight movement management is still handled by non-standard paper BOLs. This not only creates issues with shipment visibility and errors but also restricts the ability to move freight and bill efficiently.

Moreover, the Digital LTL Council has recently announced a definition for industry-wide electronic BOLs (e-BOLs). Digitised BOL solutions are also important for solving multiple issues that prevail in the industry.

The standardised eBOL can offer visibility to shipment locations in the supply chain at any point. However, the paper-to-data conversion issue remains unaddressed.
